Cortisol is up-regulated in response to stress, and leads to an increase in blood pressure and blood sugar, and an immunosuppressive action to help restore body homeostasis. Cortisol also has multiple effects on human behavior, including sleep patterns, mood, and the reception of sensory input.
Changes in cortisol expression have pathological consequences; hypercortisolism results in Cushing's syndrome, whilst hypocortisolism leads to Addison's disease.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
