COX 2 (Cyclooxygenase 2, PGHS 2, Prostaglandin Endoperoxide Synthase 2, PHS 2)

COX2 (Cyclooxygenase 2) is an inducible enzyme. It is involved in the response of cells to growth factors, tumor promoters, and cytokines that induce its expression. Given its role in synthesizing prostaglandins, COX2 is therefore of interest in studying immune response regulation. COX2 is induced by a wide variety of stimuli and was initially identified as immediate early growth response gene. In addition, COX2 expression markedly increased in 85-90% of human colorectal adenocarcinoma whereas COX1 levels remain unchanged.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nImmunohistochemistry (Paraffin):1:50-1:100 for 10 minutes at RT. Boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes is required.\nImmunohistochemistry: Frozen sections.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: \nLung carcinoma and colon carcinoma\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
