COX2 (Cyclooxygenase 2) is an inducible enzyme involved in the response of cells to growth factors, tumor promoters, and cytokines that induce its expression. Given its role in synthesizing prostaglandins, COX2 is of interest in studying immune response regulation. COX2 is induced by a wide variety of stimuli and was initially identified as immediate early growth response gene. In addition, COX2 expression markedly increased in 85-90% of human colorectal adenocarcinoma whereas COX1 levels remain unchanged. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:200 Immunohistochemistry (formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Lung carcinoma, Colon carcinoma Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
