Cyclin D3 is a member of Cyclin D family which mediates cell cycle progression through the G1 phase. Cyclin D family binds and activates cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 CDK4, CDK6), which regulates the phosphorylation of retinoblastoma (Rb) protein, p107, and p130 (1). Cyclin D3, similar to cyclin D1 and D2, regulates the initial G1 to S transition by inhibiting Rb and activating E2F proteins (2). Cyclin D3 expression has been linked to inhibition of granulocyte differentiation and activation of various transcription factors, such as transcription factor 5 (3, 4). Overexpression of cyclin D3 is associated with poor clinical outcome in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cases (5).
