Phase 1 drug metabolism is catalyzed by two groups of monooxygenases, the cytochrome P450s (CYPs) and the flavin monooxygenases (FMOs). Both CYPs and FMOs are localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. Collectively, these enzymes catalyze the oxidation of a very broad range of substrates. Both classes are dependent on NADPH as a source of electrons, but the two classes exhibit significant differences in mechanism and substrate specificity. Size of the cDNA: 1.1Kb Applications: Suitable for use for the synthesis, by standard random priming or nick translation techniques, of radiolabeled probes for investigations of P450 2E1 gene expression. Other applications not tested. Optimum dilutions to be determined by researcher. Storage and Stability: Can be stored for at least one year at -70 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
