Cytochrome P450 (CYP2D1)

The cytochrome P450 (P450) superfamily of enzymes is one of three enzyme systems which metabolize the fatty acid Arachadonic Acid (AA) to regulators of vascular tone. P450 enzymes are monooxygenase enzymes which require several co-factors such as mNADPH and P-450 reductase. There are over 200 known genes which encode P450s. Epoxygenases are those P450s which metabolize AA to epoxyeicosatrienoic acid (EETs) and w-hydroxylases are those P450s which produce 19- and 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids (19- and 20-HETE). The cytochrome P450 2A subfamily has been divided into two groups: steroid metabolizing and xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes. P450 2A6 belongs to the xenobiotic metabolizing group catalyzing the oxidation of coumarin, cotinine, aflatoxin B1, and other carcinogenic and precarcinogenic drugs.\n\nP450 enzymes are divided into two groups: steroidogenic and xenobiotic. The latter group is comprised of three families 1, 2 and 3. The xenobiotic p450's are involved in most oxidative drug metabolism. Work in this area is ongoing but studies suggest that all known drug metabolism is mediated by family members: CYP3A, CYP2D6, CYP1A2, CYP2C9/10, CYP2C19 and CYP2E1.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
