Cytokeratin, pan

Cytokeratin filaments consist of a complex family of approximately 20 different cytokeratin polypeptides with relative molecular weights of 40kD to 68kD. These intracellular intermediate filaments of 10nm in diameter provide structural integrity to epithelial cells. All the filament subunits share a general common fibrillar organization, consisting of a central alpha-helical rod that is flanked by N- and C-terminal domains at each end. Generally, low molecular weight keratins are expressed in the early stages of cell development, whereas high molecular weight keratins are expressed in maturing cells. This antibody may be useful in determining if a neoplasm originated from an epithelial or non-epithelial source, and is especially useful for the distinction of metastatic malignant tumors of epithelial origin.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. \n\nRecommended Dilution: \nImmunohistochemistry (Frozen and Paraffin): 1:50. Incubate 1 hr at RT. Proteolytic treatment with trypsin is recommended with paraffin sections.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPostive Control:\nSquamous cell carcinoma, skin, cervix. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
