Desmin (DES, CMD1I, CSM1, CSM2, FLJ12025, FLJ39719, FLJ41013, FLJ41793, Intermediate Filament Protein)

Desmin (53kD) exhibits a high degree of tissue specificity, its expression being predominantly confined to all types of muscle cells (cardiac, skeletal and smooth muscle) and their tumors. Regulation of desmin expression is stage and tissue-specific, since it is induced during terminal development. In skeletal and cardiac muscle cells desmin is localized in the Z-disk region and at the intercalated disk. The exression pattern of desmin in smooth muscle is much more heterogenous. Coexpression of vimentin and desmin has been observed in rhabdomyosarcomas and leiomyosarcomas.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nImmunohistochemistry (Frozen, de-paraffinized): 40ug/ml \nImmunocytochemistry: 40ug/ml \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
