Prepared by a modified Emanuel and Chaikoff method. Appearance: Several centimeters in length, white to creamy white fibers. Solubility: Comparatively good solubility in water, insoluble in alcohol, organic solvents and diluted acid solutions. Easily soluble in alkaline solutions and reactions. A260/A280: (same/more than)1.8 % Hyperchromicity: (same/more than)27% Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C. Reconstitute to nominal volume, aliquot and store at 4 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at 4 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
