DR6 (Death Receptor6)

Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, occurs during normal cellular differentiation and development of multicellular organisms. Apoptosis is induced by certain cytokines including TNF and Fas ligand in the TNF family through their death domain containing receptors, TNFR1 and Fas. A novel death domain containing receptor was recently identified and designated DR6 (for death receptor 6)(1). The extracellular domain of DR6 contains four TNFR-like cysteine rich motifs that are related to those of osteoprotegerin (OPG)(2) and TNFR2(3) with 36% and 42% amino acid identities, respectively. The death domain of DR6 (amino acids 428-494) located adjacent to the transmembrane domain is most related to TNFR1 (27.2%) and least to DR5 (19.7%)(1). \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for the detection of DR6 expression by Western blot. Whole cell lysate from Jurkat, Daudi and HeLa cells can be used as positive control and approximately 66kD is detected. Western blot analysis of 30ug of total cell lysate from Jurkat (lane 1), HeLa (lane 2), and Daudi (lane 3) cells with antibody at 2ug/ml. \n\nRecommended Dilution: \nWestern blot: 2-4ug/ml\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
