Leu-enkephalins compete with and mimic the effects of opiate drugs. They play a role in a number of physiologic functions, including pain perception and responses to stress. Dynorphin peptides differentially regulate the kappa opioid receptor. Dynorphin A(1-13) has a typical opiod activity, it is 700 times more potent than Leu-enkephalin. Cells are found in the paraventricular and supraoptic nucleus and fibers are found in the lateral hypothalamus in rat brain of 4% FA perfused colchicine tissue. Applications: Suitable for use in RID and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: RID: 1:10,000 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): Requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining. Sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0, is recommended. Overnight incubation recommended. Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:100-1:500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
