Dysbindin, short for dystrobrevin-binding protein 1, is a protein constituent of the dystrophin-associated protein comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, (DPC) of skeletal muscle cells. It is also a part of BLOC-1, or biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, 1. Dysbindin is found in neural tissue of the brain,Porcinearticularly in a, Xenopus/Amphibian,on bundles and especially in certain a, Xenopus/Amphibian,on terminals, notably mossy fiber synaptic terminals in the cerebellum and hippocampus. In humans, dysbindin is encoded by the DTNBP1 gene. An association was found between e, Xenopus/Amphibian,pression of a particular dysbindin allele and a clinical e, Xenopus/Amphibian,pression of schizophrenia.
