EDG 2 (Endothelial Cell Differentiation Gene 2, LPA1, Lysophosphatidic acid 1, Ventricular Zone Gene-1, vzg-1)

The endothelial differentiation gene (Edg) family, a subfamily of G protein coupled receptors, is a specific mediator of lysophospholipids. Edg-2, also known as ventricular zone gene-1 (vzg-1), mediates many of the biological activities of lysophoshatidic acid (LPA). Heterologous expression of Edg-2 in neuronal and non-neuronal cell types produces diverse cellular responses which include increases in [ 3H]LPA-binding sites, G protein activation, stress fiber formation, neutrite retraction, serum response element (SRE) activation, increased DNA synthesis, and suppression of apoptosis. While Edg-2 mediates many of the biological activities of LPA, the contribution of non-receptor mechanisms to LPA signaling remains unclear. \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nWestern Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects Edg-2 in rat brain microsomal preparation. The specificity of the antibody in Western Blot was confirmed by peptide inhibition using the immunizing peptide. Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with E2208-1A (2ug/ml). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a chemiluminescence detection system. \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nRecommended Secondary Antibodies:\nI1904-39: IgG, X-Adsorbed (HRP) Pab Gt xRb\nI1904-40A: IgG, H&L, X-Adsorbed (HRP) Pab Gt xRb\nI1904-46Q: IgG, H&L (HRP) Pab Gt xRb\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
