eIF-3E (EIF3E, Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit E, EIF3-P48, eIF3-p46, Viral integration site protein INT-6 homolog)

eIF-3E is the p48 subunit of the translational initiation factor eIF3. It forms a multi-factor complex with eIF1, eIF5, and the eIF2-GTP-Met-tRNA ternary complex that binds to the 40S ribosomal subunit to form the 43S preinitiation complex (PIC). eIF-3E also prevents the premature joining of the 60S ribosomal subunit until the start codon is recognized. In addition, eIF-3E plays a role in recruiting eIF4G-associated mRNAs to the 43S PIC to form the 48S PIC and initiate mRNA scanning (1). It is required for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) and acts in conjunction with UPF2 to divert mRNAs from translation to the NMD pathway. eIF-3E also interacts with MCM7 and EPAS1 and regulate the proteasome-mediated degradation of these proteins (2).\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions: \nWestern Blot: 1:1000-1:10,000 \nImmunocytochemistry: 1:100-1:250\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months.
