EIF3F is a 357aa containing RNA associated protein belonging to the peptidase M67 family with a MPN (JAB/Mov34) domain and is a component of the EIF3 multiprotein complex composed of at least 13 different subunits. Like other EIF proteins it binds to the 40S ribosome and promotes the binding of methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA, and is thus an important protein involved in regulation of translational initiation and protein synthesis. EIF3F associates with the complex p170-eIF3. Ubiquitous expression is seen in most of the tissues.
