Elk-1, phosphorylated (Ser383)

ELK-1 is a member of the ternary complex factor (TCF) family of transcription factors, which is thought to play a role in mediating gene expression in response to growth factors.\nELK-1 can be phosphorylated at serine 383 and 389 in its C-terminal region in response to the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) proteins. Phosphorylation of ELK-1 results in an increase in its transcriptional activity, leading to the transcription of growth-related proteins, such as c-Fos.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry (frozen). Other applications not tested. \n\nRecommended Dilution: \nWestern Blot:1:1000, detects a band of approximately 46kD in Western blots.\nOptimal dilution determined by the researcher. \n\nRecommended Secondary Reagents: \nSheep anti rabbit IgG:HRP \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specific for Ets-like protein-1 (ELK-1) when phosphorylated at serine 383. The specificity of this antibody has been shown by blocking studies in Western blotting, whereby staining was blocked by the phosphopeptide. No blocking was seen by the corresponding non-phosphopeptide.\nSpecies Cross Reactivity: Human, mouse and rat (100% identity with immunogen sequence).
