Elk-1, phosphorylated (Ser383)

Elk-1 is a transcription factor involved in mediating gene transcription in response to growth factors. Elk-1 is thought to be phosphorylated by MAP kinase at Ser383 and phosphorylation at this site is essential for the transcriptional activity of Elk-1. Phosphorylation of Elk-1 has also been implicated in synaptic plasticity in the adult hippocampus.\n\nApplications: \nSpecific for ELK-1 phosphorylated at Ser383. Phospho Elk (Ser383) migrates at ~46kD by SDS PAGE. Specificity of the antibody for the phophorylated form has been demonstrated using phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated Elk-1 recombinant fusion protein. Additionally, immunolabeling of the ELK-1 protein band in a Western blot of rat brain homogenate is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as an antigen but not by the corresponding non-phosphopeptide. \n\nRecommended Dilution:\nDot blots: 1:1000\nWestern blots: 1:1000\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
