Endoplasmic Reticulum Associated Amyloid Beta Binding Protein (ERAB)

Cat no: E2291-52A

Endoplasmic Reticulum Associated Amyloid Beta Binding Protein (ERAB)

An intracellular protein termed ERAB (262aa, Endoplasmic reticulum associated Ab binding protein on chromosome X) has been cloned and linked with Ab neurotoxicity. ERAB has structural homology with short-chain alcohol dehydrogenases (hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases and acetyl-CoA reductases). Interestingly, ERAB localizes to endoplasmic reticulum despite the absence of a classical transmembrane sequence. However, in the presence of Ab, ERAB-Ab complex translates to the inner plasma membrane. Alzheimer patients have strong ERAB activity. Normal brains have virtually no ERAB. In addition, Ab neurotoxicity can be reduced by blocking ERAB.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000-1:5000. Detects ~27kD protein in the brain\nELISA: 1:10,000-1:100,000 using 50-100ng of control peptide/well.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nRecommended Control Peptide: \nE2291-54A: Endoplasmic Reticulum Associated Amyloid Beta Binding Protein, Human, Control Peptide\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
