Enkephalin is one of several naturally occurring morphine-like substances released from nerve endings of the central nervous system and the adrenal medulla. Enkephalins act as analgesics and sedatives in the body and appear to affect mood and motivation. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and RIA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:100-1:400 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Additional info: Recognizes both Met5- and Leu5-enkephalin, secreted peptides which mimic the effect of opiate drugs. Recognizes well established enkephalin immunoreactive sites, but does not bind to areas known to contain beta-endorphin or dynorphin in Immunohistochemistry.
