Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR, ERBB, ERBB1, HER1, mENA, PIG61, Proto-oncogene c-ErbB-1, Receptor Tyrosine-protein Kinase erbB-1)

EGFR is a cell-surface receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family (EGF-family) of extracellular protein ligands. It is a member of the ErbB family of receptors, a subfamily of four closely related receptor tyrosine kinases: EGFR (ErbB-1), HER2/c-neu (ErbB-2), Her 3 (ErbB-3) and Her 4 (ErbB-4). Besides EGF, the protein is also a receptor for other proteins like amphiregulin, betacellulin, heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor, GP30 and vaccinia virus growth factor. The protein is involved in the control of cell growth and differentiation. The protein is usually expressed in placenta. Mutations affecting EGFR expression or activity could result in cancer. human EGFR gene is mapped to chromosome 7p12.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:500-1:1000\nImmunohistochestry (paraffin): 1:50-1:100\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nA431 cells\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
