Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (erbB, EGFR)

Cat no: E3375-06

Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (erbB, EGFR)

EGFR is type I receptor tyrosine kinase with sequence homology to erbB-1, -2, -3 -4 or HER-1, -2, -3 -4. It binds to Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Transforming Growth Factor-a (TGF-a), Heparin-binding EGF (HB-EGF), amphiregulin, betacellulin and epiregulin. EGFR is overexpressed in tumors of breast, brain, bladder, lung, gastric, head & neck, esophagus, cervix, vulva, ovary, and endometrium. It is predominantly present in squamous cell carcinomas.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunoprecipitation: Use Protein G; 2ug antibody/mg protein lysate (Denatured only)\nWestern Blot: 2-4ug/ml for 2hrs at RT\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nHybridoma: \nProduced by fusion between BALB/c splenocytes and mouse myeloma NS-1 cells.\n\nPositive Control: \nA431 cells\n\nCellular Localization: \nCell membrane\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional Info

Recognizes the 170kD (wild type) and 145kD (vIII variant) forms of human EGF receptor. The epitope maps to the cytoplasmic domain of EGFR. Reacts with both the unphosphorylated and phosphorylated form of EGFR. Does not react with erbB-2, erbB-3 or erbB-4. Species Reactivity: Equine. Does not react with mouse or rat.
