Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (erbB, EGFR, EC=2.7.10.1, ERBB, ERBB1, MENA)

Protein kinases are enzymes that transfer a phosphate group from a phosphate donor onto an acceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. By this basic mechanism, protein kinases mediate most of the signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation. The protein kinase family is one of the largest families of proteins in eukaryotes, classified in 8 major groups based on sequence comparison of their tyrosine (PTK) or serine/threonine (STK) kinase catalytic domains. Epidermal Growth factor receptor (EGFR) is the prototype member of the type 1 receptor tyrosine kinases. EGFR overexpression in tumors indicates poor prognosis and is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, stomach and in squamous cell carcinoma.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunocytochemistry. Not suitable for Immunohistochemistry using paraffin tissues. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nFlow Cytometry: 10ug labels 5x10e5 cells\nWestern Blot: 1-5ug/ml\nImmunoprecipitation: 10-100ug/ml\nImmunocytochemistry (IF): 10ug/ml stains cultured cells.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
