Epithelial Membrane Antigen (EMA, CA15-3, Polymorphic Epithelial Mucin, PEM, Sialomucin or Episialin, MUC-1)

Applications:\nSuitable for use in Immunoblot and Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue; Proteolytic treatment not required).\n\nRecommended Dilution: \nImmunohistochemistry: 1:5-1:10; Incubation Time 1 hr at room temperature.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20 degrees C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional Info

Reactive with Epithelial Sialomucin, a mucous glycoprotein located mainly in the glycocalyx of most glandular epithelial cells and in carcinoma cells. Directed against a 400kD glycoprotein, corresponding to MAM-6. Occasionally, a very weak crossreactivity with sarcomas and brain tumors is observed. It does not react with normal colon or rectal epithelium and colorectal adenomas, whereas colorectal carcinomas stain positive. Does not crossreact with leukemias. Reactive with human. Recommended for Mamma carcinoma.
