Extracellular signal-regulated kinase 2 (Erk2) is also known as mitogen activated protein kinase 2, microtubule-associated protein-2 kinase MAP kinase 2, p42-MAPK or EGF receptor T669 (ERT1). Mek2 activates Erk2 by phosphorylation of neighboring threonine-183 and tyrosine-185 residues. Erk2, a serine-threonine kinase phosphorylates microtubule associated protein-2 and myelin basic protein. This kinase is an important proximal componant of the MAP kinase pathway involved in transmitting the signalsfrom growth factors, neurotransmitters and hormones at the cell surface to the transcriptional events in the nucleus.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: A431 cells, Breast carcinoma\n\nCellular Localization: Cytoplasmic\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 3 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
