Estrogen Receptor, alpha (ERa)

Cat no: E3565-09

Estrogen Receptor, alpha (ERa)

The estrogen receptor alpha, also known as the estradiol receptor, is a phosphoprotein which belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor super-family of proteins. Two variant isoforms of the estrogen receptor have been described, alpha and beta. In addition, several variant froms of the estrogen receptor alpha have been described in human, rodent, chicken, fish and Xenopus tissues.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Gel Mobility Shift Assay, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nWestern Blot (ECL) (1): 2ug/ml \nGel Mobility Shift Assay (2): 20ug/reaction \nImmunoprecipitation (2,3): 20ug/100ul beads. We recommend that protein A Sepharose be used as immunoabsorbent with a bridging rabbit anti-mouse IgG to ensure efficient binding of the antibody.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.\n \nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional Info

Recognizes the human estrogen receptor at~65kD and ~55kD believed to be the major proteolytic fragment of the estrogen receptor alpha protein. The antibody also recognizes native estrogen receptor in both the inactive 8S oligomeric state, when activated to 4S and whether unbound or bound to ligand. Species Crossreactivity: mouse, rat and hamster.
