Estrogen Receptor alpha is a 65kD protein and a member of the steroid family of nuclear receptors. Estrogen Receptor alpha is a ligand-activated transcription factor that, when bound to estrogen, induces a conformational change that allows dimerization and binding to estrogen response element sequences. When bound to DNA, Estrogen Receptor alpha can positively or negatively regulate gene transcription. Like other steroid hormone receptors, Estrogen Receptors are intracellular proteins. Estrogen Receptors play an important role in regulating mammary gland growth and differentiation. Breast tumors that are ER positive may also show a more favorable response to anti-estrogen therapies Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:250 Immunoprecipitation: 15ug/ml only Immunoprecipates the active receptor. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Additional info: Recognizes human estrogen receptor. Does not recognize the native estrogen receptor in the inactive 8S oligomeric state, but reacts efficiently with the activated 4S receptor.
