FAF2 (FAS-associated factor 2), otherwise known as UBXD8 (UBX domain-containing protein 8), is a protein highly expressed in the brain, which is implicated in the transport of damaged ER membrane proteins to the cytoplasm, for degradation by the 20S proteasome. Expression of FAF2 is up-regulated in T-cells and eosinophils from patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), where it may act as a regulator of resistance to apoptosis.
