Free Glycerol BioAssay(TM) Kit II (Colorimetric)

Glycerol is a central component of most lipids. It acts as a backbone for triglycerides and phospholipids, which play an important role in metabolism and cell membrane structure. Due to its low toxicity, glycerol is widely used in the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries. \n\nSample Type:\nSerum, plasma and urine. Animal tissues: Liver, muscle, heart etc. Cell culture: Adherent or suspension cells. Cells and tissue culture supernatant. \n\nIntended Use:\nKit can detect less than 20uM of free glycerol in various biological samples.\n\nTest Principle:\nThe Free Glycerol BioAssay(TM) kit II is suitable for measuring free glycerol levels in samples that contain reducing substances, which may interfere with oxidase-based assays. In this assay, glycerol in the presence of Glycerol Enzyme Mix is converted to an intermediate, which reduces a colorless Probe to a colored product with strong absorbance at 450nm. \n\nKit Components:\nGlycerol Assay Buffer, 1x25ml\nGlycerol Enzyme Mix, lyophilized, 1x vial\nProbe, lyophilized, 1x vial\nGlycerol Standard (100mM), 1x0.2ml\n\nStorage and Stability:\nStore powder at 4 degrees C liquid at -20 degrees C. Store other components at 4 degrees C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
