G Protein, i alpha 2, (Gia2)

Gai2 is a 40--41kD alpha-subunit of heterotrimeric protein, that shares sequence homology with Gai3 and Gai1. All these G proteins can be ADP-ribosylated at the carboxy terminal Cys of the CAAX sequence, interfering with receptor coupling. Gi2 is expressed widely in tissues and cell lines. Activation of PLC-B by Gai-coupled receptors is the result of release of GBy subunits from Gai. Gai2 regulates potassium channel activation. Mutation at Arg 179 has been identified in tumors. This and the Q205L mutant inhibit adenyl cyclase.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:5000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.\n
