GABA Receptor A, alpha1, NT (Gamma-aminobutyric Acid Receptor Type A alpha 1 Subunit, GABRA1)

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing a hyperpolarization of the membrane through the opening of a Cl- channel associated with the GABAa-receptor (GABAa-R) subtype. GABAa-Rs are important therapeutic targets for a range of sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic agents and are implicated in several diseases including epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. The GABAa-R is a multimeric subunit complex. Six alphas, four betas and four gammas, plus alternative splicing variants of some of these subunits, have been identified. \n\nApplications: \nSpecific for the GABAa-R alpha1 subunit which migrates at ~51kD by SDS-PAGE. Applications include dot blots and Western blots. \n\nRecommended Dilution:\nDot blot: 1:500-1:2000\nWestern blot: 1:500-1:2000\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
