Galectin-3 (Gal-3), is a member of the galectin family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins, which is involved in both intracellular and extracellular functions and exhibits anti-apoptotic properties. Gal-3 is implicated in many biological processes, including cell differentiation, growth, adhesion, angiogenesis and inflammation, and is expressed in a wide range of neoplasms. Gal-3 acts as a regulator of tumor metastasis, and several studies have shown a correlation between levels of Gal-3 and tumor progression in liver, thyroid, colon, gastric and breast carcinomas, making Gal-3 an emerging cancer marker.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
