Description: Galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding animal lectins that are associated with diverse cellular events, including immune response. Glectin-3 has previously been identified in rat, mouse and human tissues and is evolutionarily highly conserved. It is an abundant cell-surface component of inflammatory macrophages and their major non-integrin laminin-binding protein. It is also mainly expressed in colonic epithelial cells. Galectin-3 is a cell surface receptor of the advanced glycosylation end products (AGE), which has involvement in the pathogenesis of nephropathy and other diabetic complications (1-2). Applications: Suitable for use inFlow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Manufactured incorporating RabMAb(R) technology under Epitomics US patents, No 5,675,063 and 7,429,487, owned by Abcam.
