Gelsolin participates in the e, Xenopus/Amphibian,tracellular actin scavenger system, binding actin and disaggregating filamentous actin released from dying cells. Actin monomers are then transferred to Gc-globulin. The plasma concentration of gelsolin is reduced in conditions of major actin release, such as acute liver failure,Mouse, ajor trauma and rhabdomyolysis, where multi-organ failure is a risk. It has been suggested that gelsolin, like Gc-globulin, can be a prognostic factor in these conditions. This antibody binds human gelsolin.
