GFAP (Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein) (BSA & Azide Free)

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) is specific to astrocytes (i.e., glial cells) and ependymal cells of the central nervous system. Antibody to GFAP is useful in differentiating primary gliomas from metastatic lesions in the brain and for documenting astrocytic differentiation in tumors outside the CNS. \n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution: \nWestern Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2hrs at RT \nImmunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1-2ug/ml for 30 min at RT. Note: No special pretreatment required prior to staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nIMR-5 cells, Brain or astrocytoma \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at-20 degrees C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at-20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
