The Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria is used as a fluorescent indicator for monitoring gene expression in a variety of cellular systems, including living organisms and fixed tissues. Unlike other bioluminescent reporters, GFP fluoresces in the absence of substrates, cofactors, or other intrinsic or extrinsic proteins. Purified GFP is a 27kD monomer consisting of 238aa and emits green light (emission maximum at 509nm) when excited with blue or UV light. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Dot Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
