The peptide hormone glucagon is a member of a class of structurally related peptides found in the pancreas and gut. Glucagon antagonizes insulin by converting glycogen to glucose in the liver and increasing blood sugar levels. The major known action of glucagons is to stimulate gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis in the liver. Glucagon is proteolytically processed from a larger precursor, pre-proglucagon. The peptide hormones, GLP1, GLP2, Glucagon, and GIP have closely related aa sequences. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
