GLP-1 is a incretion hormone, which has been shown to stimulate secretion of insulin in the presence of elevated blood glucose concentrations, but not during periods of low blood glucose concentrations (hypoglycemia). GLP-1 is released from gut endocrine cells in response to nutrient ingestion. The hormone is a physiologic mediator of satiety and regulates energy absorption and disposal. GLP-1 is an insulinotropic hormone that has the ability to render pancreatic beta cells glucose-competent. It has been used in the therapy of type-2 diabetes. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
