Glucagon Like Peptide 1 (7-36), Recombinant, Human (GLP1)

GLP-1 is a incretion hormone, which has been shown to stimulate secretion of insulin in the presence of elevated blood glucose concentrations, but not during periods of low blood glucose concentrations (hypoglycemia). GLP-1 is released from gut endocrine cells in response to nutrient ingestion. The hormone is a physiologic mediator of satiety and regulates energy absorption and disposal. GLP-1 is an insulinotropic hormone that has the ability to render pancreatic beta cells glucose-competent. It has been used in the therapy of type-2 diabetes. GLP-1 has cytokine activity, although it is not classified as such due its small size GLP-1 enhances cell differentiation, plays a role in tissue regeneration, and mediates cytoprotection.\n\nRecombinant Human Glucagon Like Peptide-1 is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 30 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 3298.7 Dalton.\n\nSequence:\nThe sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Hiis-Ala-Glu-Gly-Thr.\n\nBiological Activity:\n1. Regulates Glucose levels rapidly\n2. Reduces Insulin resistence\n3. Reduces Glucagon\n4. Reduces HbA1c\n5. Stimulates beta cell grwoth which stimulates insulin production.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, 0.1% BSA or HSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
