Glucose-regulated proteins are a class of proteins which are synthesized in response to glycose deprivation. These proteins, along with the closely related heat shock proteins may be grouped together as a family of stress-response proteins (srp). Elevated levels of srp have been observed in some cancer cells and may be an indication of the biological stresses that influence tumor growth. In a study of 398 breast cancer patients, high levels of each of the srps predicted a shorter desease-free survival in node-negative patients. High levels of srp were also correlated with high levels of cathepsin D, suggesting srp may also increase the metastatic and invasive potential. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.01-0.03ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: 3T3 lysate Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
