GluR2 (Glutamate Receptor)

Glutamate receptors are the major excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the central nervous system (CNS). They play critical roles in the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and in the development of the nervous system. These receptors may be involved in the neuronal cell death that occurs in several neuropathological conditions.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot, ELISA, Immunocytochemistry and RIA. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution: \nImmunohistochemistry (50um 4% paraformaldehyde fixed tissue): 1:250-1:400 \nImmunocytochemistry: 4% paraformaldehyde fixed cells\nOptimal dilution to determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: \nCerebral cortex, pyramidal neurons\n\nSource: \nTissue culture supernatant\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional Info

Recognizes rat Glutamate Receptor 2 (GluR2) at 102kD. Other proteins (66kD or lower MW) appear to be breakdown products of GluR2. In IHC, GluR2 is widely distributed at both the cellular and synaptic levels. Recognizes GluR2 present in a vast majority of, but not all, GABAergic interneurons. Does not crossreact with other AMPA/Kainate GluR subunits. Species Crossreactivity: Macaque monkey and canine.
