Protects the hemoglobin in erythrocytes from oxidative breakdown. CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: 2 glutathione + H2O2 = glutathione disulfide + 2 H2O. SUBUNIT: Homotetramer. It belongs to the glutathione peroxidase family. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Frozen and Paraffin): 1:2000- 1:20,000 Western Blot: 1:10,000- 1:100,000. Under reducing conditions recognizes a 22kD protein in human brain tissue and glutathione peroxidase isolated from human erythrocytes. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Tissues: Human and rat brain microglia. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
