Glutathione S Transferase (GST)

Expression of genes in bacterial system is a convenient approach to produce large amounts of recombinant proteins. Most often, short peptides (FLAG, c-my, 6X-His etc) or small proteins (GST, MBP, b-Galactosidase etc) are cloned with the target genes. Proteins are then expressed as fusion proteins. This epitope tagging technique is powerful to characterize a recombinant expressed protein. Glutathione-S- Transferase (GST) is commonly used as an epitope tag. The insertion of GST does not interfere with the bioactivity of the protein and produce a stable fusion product. Antibodies to the GST fusion-tags are useful in monitoring protein expression in Western Blots and immunoaffinity purification of recombinant proteins.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
