Glycerol-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Activity BioAssay(TM) Kit (Colorimetric)

Glycerol-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase is an important enzyme for lipid metabolism. It catalyzes the reversible conversion between dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glycerol-3-phosphate. GPDH plays multiple functions inside cells; it links carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and provides electrons through the Glycerol-3-Phosphate Shuttle. When progenitor adipocytes differentiate into mature adipocytes, GPDH activity increases significantly. Analysis of glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase activity is crucial for the study of fatty acid metabolic pathways. \n\nSample Type:\nAnimal tissues: Liver, brain, heart, kidney, etc. Cell culture: Preadipocytes, adipocytes, etc.\n\nIntended Use:\nThis kit is used for measurement of Glycerol-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase activity in various tissues/cells, analysis of fatty acid metabolism/cell signaling and screening anti-obesity drugs.??Test Principle:\nIn the Glycerol-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Activity BioAssay(TM) kit, Glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase forms an intermediate, which reduces a colorless probe to a colored product with strong absorbance at 450nm. The assay is simple, sensitive and rapid and can detect Glycerol-3-Phosphate dehydrogenase activity less than 1mU/well.\n\nKit Components:\nGPDH Assay Buffer, 1x27ml\nGPDH Substrate, lyophilized, 1x vial\nGPDH Probe, lyophilized, 1x vial\nNADH Standard, lyophilized, 1x vial\nGPDH Positive Control, lyophilized, 1x vial\n\nStorage and Stability:\nStore powder at 4 degrees C liquid at -20 degrees C. Store other components at 4 degrees C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
