Glycogen Synthase, phosphorylated (Ser641)

Glycogen synthase (GS) is the key enzyme in the regulation of glycogen synthesis. There are two main isoforms of mammalian GS, the muscle isoenzyme and the liver form (1-2). Muscle GS is expressed in several tissues, and liver GS appears to be tissue specific (3). GS is regulated by multi-site phosphorylation and the binding of allosteric ligands. Phosphorylation leads to inactivation of GS, but activity is restored by the binding of allosteric activator glucose-6-phosphate, which converts the enzyme into a better substrate for phosphatase and induces its dephosphorylation and activation (4). Ser641 is one of the most important phosphorylation sites for regulation of glycogen synthase (5).\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000\nImmunoprecipitation: 1:100\nImmunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:25\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
