GSK3b is a proline directed serine/threonine kinase, originally identified as a result of its role in glycogen metabolism regulation. GSK3b is particularly abundant in the central nervous system, where it is neuron specific. It affects many fundamental cellular functions, including cell cycle, gene transcription, and cytoskeletal integrity. GSK3b has recently been implicated in many signaling pathways, such as Wnt and PI3/PKB signaling. Recently the pathological role of the protein has been identified in Alzheimer Disease (AD), a neurodegenerative disease. human GSK3b has been mapped to chromosomal region 3q13.3. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: 293 cells Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
