GM-CSF, Recombinant, Human (Granulocyte-macrophage Colony-stimulating Factor, GM-CSF, Colony-stimulating Factor, CSF, Molgramostin, Sargramostim, CSF2, GMCSF)

Human GM-CSF is a 24kD glycoprotein produced by a variety of cell types, including T and B lymphocytes, macrophages, keratinocytes, eosinophils, neutrophils, and endothelial cells in response to cytokine or inflammatory stimuli. GM-CSF was initially identified on the basis of its capacity to stimulate the clonal proliferation of myeloid precursors in vitro. GM-CSF promotes a Th1 biased immune response, allergic inflammation, and the development of autoimmunity. GM-CSF are particularly effective as antitumor vaccines. GM-CSF regulates multiple biological activities through activation of the GM-CSF receptor (GMCSFR), a member of the type I cytokine receptor group comprising a and b subunits.\n\nSource:\nRecombinant corresponding to aa18-144, from human GM-CSF, expressed in E.coli.\n\nMolecular Weight:\n~14.6kD\n\nEndotoxin Level:\n(same/less than)1EU/1ug (LAL)\n\nSpecific Activity:\nThe ED50 for this effect is typically 10-40pg/ml. Measured in a cell proliferation assay using the human growth factor-dependent cell line TF-1.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nAliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
