Glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1) is an antioxidant enzyme that is down-regulated in cancer cells. Protects the hemoglobin in erythrocytes from oxidative breakdown. Its main role is the prevention of cancer initiation by ROS-mediated DNA damage. Biological Activity: Catalytic activity: 2 Glutathione + H2O2 -> Glutathione Disulfide + 2 H2O. Sequence: Human GPX1 (aa 1-201) is fused at the C-terminus to a His-tag. Storage and Stability: Short-term Storage: +4 degrees C Long-term Storage: -20 degrees C Working aliquots are stable for up to 3 months when stored at -20 degrees C.
