Beta1 subunit of guanylate cyclase is a heterodimeric protein consisting of an alpha subunit and a beta subunit linked by disulphide bonds. Guanylate cyclase functions as the main receptor for nitric oxide, whereupon it catalyzes the conversion of GTP to the second messenger cGMP. cGMP mediates the vasodilator capacity of NO, and is important in modulating other vascular functions, including cellular proliferation, apoptosis, migration and extracellular matrix production. \nGuanylate cyclase beta1 has recently been shown to be upregulated in mononuclear cells from patients with erectile dysfunction.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nHybridoma: \nSp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
