Guanylyl Cyclase Activating Protein 2 (GCAP2)

Guanylate cyclase-activating proteins (GCAPs) are calcium binding proteins that belong to the calmodulin superfamily. GCAPs without calcium are responsible for activation of photoreceptor guanylate cyclase during light adaptation. Studies have shown that the addition or subtraction of Ca2+ results in major conformational changes and the activation/deactivation of GCAP 1 and GCAP 2. It has been demonstrated that both GCAP 1 and 2 act on guanylate cyclase similarly and have approximately 50% homology between the two forms. GCAP-1 is predominantly localized in the photoreceptor outer segments, while GCAP 2 is found in retina samples.\n\nCellular Localization: Cell Membrane\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
