HES1 (Hairy and Enhancer of Split 1, HES-1, bHLHb39, Class B Basic Helix-loop-helix Protein 39, FLJ20408, Hairy Homolog, Hairy-like Protein, hHL, HL, HRY, Transcription Factor HES-1)

HES1 is a nuclear protein belonging to th basic helix-loop-helix family of transcription factors with a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain and an Orange domain. The basic domain of HES1 contains a helix interrupting protein that binds to the N-box rather than the canonical E-box. An immediate early response gene to growth factor, HES1 is reported as having a dual function of both transcriptional activator and silencer of acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA), thus contributing to the subtle tissue-specific control of housekeeping genes such as GAA. HES1 a transcriptional repressor of genes which require a bHLH protein for their transcription and also the formation of a complex with a corepressor protein (Groucho) such as TLE2. HES1 may act as a negative regulator of myogenesis by inhibiting the functions of MYOD1 and ASH1.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nImmunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1:1000-1:2000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nHuman brain\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
